next morning with out awakening him. mr. noon, the actor's personal assistant became worried when he did not respond to a door knock. >> the personal assistant gained access to mr. williams bedroom and found mr. williams clothed, in a seated position, unresponsive with a belt around his neck with the other end wedged between the clothes closet door and door frame. his body was slightly suspended. >> the coroner found knife wounds inside of his left wrist. they had not been fatal this, is not the kind of end his college drama teacher would have predicted. >> he was electric. his mind, so fertile. >> the 20-year-old moved up quickly. long after "mork & mindy" he

there is a way in which it takes away the shame of the addiction. and that is what helped people. >> don sanchez vividly remembered impact on the san francisco comedy scene. >> he used to do his show when working on new material at bimbo's. it was trying out or working on new material. we knew what that meant. he would be there for 3, 4, 5 days, working on something that might wind up on broadway or television. >> robin williams may have been internationally famous, some remember him as a regular nice guy, at neighborhood places. abc7 news reporter alisa harrington joins us with a look.

>> some people remember trick or treating at this home. since news of the death, people have been dropping off flowers, lighting candles. even those who met him briefly say he had a way of making you feel special and will be missed. the owner of hero's club formed a friendship with williams over the years. saying he often came in there, looking for rare action figures. he texted him on sunday. >> i did not hear from him. usually when i text message or call him, he usually acknowledges and gets back to me within the day. he found out his friend, and customer was dead >> i can't believe it. it's really, i know, you know i know him for all of the years. >> williams' death feels personal to many. he was seen at local shops
